“Throughout my son’s years at Penn, January was a reliable and steady, yet friendly and caring source of support for him as he navigated an intense curriculum, demanding requirements, and a highly competitive environment.  She was kind and compassionate, yet firm and clear just when he needed it most, and, as such, she effectively guided him to keep his eye on the ball.  January continually helped to ensure that my son was on track to achieve his goals and progress toward his degrees and she was a cheerleader and friend to him and so many other students at the same time. 

January was readily available to my son for a consult on how to meet his course requirements while still expanding his horizons and following his passions.  When my son expressed interest in studying abroad, January worked with him to find a program that would enable him to progress in his curriculum while taking new and interesting classes.  

When my son struggled in some coursework and one particularly difficult semester, January supported and encouraged him and helped him gain perspective. At the same time, she was appropriately firm regarding what was expected order to maintain his standing in a demanding dual-degree program. 

We so appreciate January and how she supported our son while he was in school, and we know that other students will thoroughly benefit from and enjoy working with her!”
